Going back a few years to the original Ghostbusters movie. One superfan's wife really looks to amaze him for his birthday. Unfortunately I was unable to make the cake she originally chose. It was the Ecto car from the movie. With the right amount of time and at the right price I could have put it together but honestly I was scared.
So instead we settled on doing the No Ghost symbol with a little 3D twist.

Wrecked Building
The recipient of this cake works for a construction and demolition company and his wife told me that he absolutely did not want to turns 40. It was her idea to use a wrecking ball to smash the cake. Now that I think about it, that could have been one really messy cake. One big pile of cake and icing all destroyed on a cake board. Not a pretty picture.
Lightning and Mater
Tinkerbell
I really hope that Tinkerbell is still a popular character when my little girl starts to like princesses and other cute characters. She is one of my favorites. The topper for this Tinkerbell cake is a store bought candle which took a bit of looking to find. I am glad that I did though, the other toppers that I found just wouldn't have looked right.
Flying cake
I was thrilled how this airplane cake turned out and so was the little boy receiving it. His mom posted a video of his reaction to share with me. It made me feel all gooey inside. I love getting reviews, especially great ones ;)
I didn't realize it at the time, but the picture that I found to use as inspiration was apparently modeled after a Planet Cake airplane. I can't seem to find the plane they made but I am sure it was gorgeous as they do amazing work.

Lego for Lucas
My poor little guy's birthday cake seems to always take a back seat when it comes to me making it. I had two other cakes to make on the same weekend of his birthday and I was more focused on those cakes and didn't set aside very much time to make this one. As it turns out, these Lego blocks are not very time consuming. But I did run out of time and the guests for his little family party were already arriving before I was finished. Not all of the round circles actually got attached, but no one cared (or noticed).
Minnie Mouse
I have made this Minnie cake a few times although this time the cake is twice as big.
I decided that I am not very fond of the drop star method of filling in the colors, and lately many of my cakes are done by smoothing out each color. I think that it makes for a cleaner look and I can get in more details where they are needed.

Scooby Doo
Here's a little character cake that I have not done in the past. It's good to add new pictures to my collection. Scooby and his friends are a great bunch that has become popular again with the kids. My oldest son loves to watch it.
